Local 47 members and guests celebrated in style on
Saturday November 27 at the Centurion Banquet Hall to honour our long
standing members for past service and dedication
as well as to
witness the
dedication
and awarding
of the first annual
"Roy Hyland Excellence in Apprenticeship"
award
to the
5th year apprentice with the highest Grade Point Average for the
year.
Congratulations to all of our long serving members who
received their 50, 40 and 25 yr. long-service awards.

This
first annual award was presented in Roy's honour by Mrs. Lorna Hyland
accompanied by their son & daughter, Heather and Brett. The winner
was Tim Moise. Congratulations Tim, this most prestigious award is a
result of your dedication to our great trade.

Ottawa Senators Hockey Tickets
You could win a pair of Senators
tickets just by attending the Regular Monthly union meetings
Starting in
September 2010, two
or more draws, each for a pair of tickets will be held at Regular Meetings on the 3rd Thursday of each month
and continuing monthly until all available 2010/2011 season tickets are won.
You
must be in attendance to win and may win once only during the
Regular Season
Playoff tickets will be drawn separately as they become available and even if you won during the regular season you
may win again during the playoff draws.

Congratulations to all the building Trades members
and affiliates who are the big winners from this tournament. The
total amount raised for the Members Assistance Program was a
whopping $22,000.00. This money helps defer MAP expenses and enables
Gabriel Chauvin and his staff to provide the kind of assistance
required for our members and their families in times of need.

Local
47 Annual Ice Fishing Derby
The annual Local Union 47 catch & release ice fishing derby was held on
Saturday February 6, 2010 at Constance Lake. A total of 86 fish were
caught and released back into the lake. Another great day of fishing by
any standard!
A new attendance record 80 members, their children, and guests participated in
this years event. Chili, hot dogs and hot beverages were
provided by Sylvie Haddad and her staff at Constance Lake Lodge.
Some real nice pike were caught throughout the day with the winning
adult entry weighing in at 2 lb. 14 oz. caught by Louise Levesque. Winner among the children's
entries with a 2 lb.5 oz. pike was Abbie Giles.
