The Following are some hi-lights from the Industrial/Commercial/Institutional Provincial Collective Agreement

WAGES AND BENEFITS (licensed Sheet Metal Workers and registered Apprentices)

WAGES: Journeymen Sheet Metal workers (CofQ*) can earn an hourly wage of $31.22 plus benefits for a total package of $46.22. Apprentices (MTCU*) earn 40, 50, 60, 70 or 80% of the journeyman amounts

PENSION PLAN: Contributions of $6.28 per hour made on your behalf. (Contributions on behalf of Apprentices at the appropriate percentage of Journeyman's wage)

HOURS OF WORK: The workweek shall consist of 36 hours in the shop or on the job

OVERTIME: All overtime shall be at double time for all hours worked outside of the normal workday except for shift work or irregular hours as defined in the Collective Agreement ...Double Time for Statutory Holidays: New Years Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, August Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day

TRAVEL & BOARD: Members traveling outside the Free Zone will receive up to $92.50 per day worked. (See "Additional Info Page"  for definition of Free Zone).

DOWNTOWN PARKING: Downtown parking shall be paid at $12.00 per day. (See "Additional Info Page" for definition of Downtown Parking).

SENIOR JOURNEYMEN: Employers that employ more than 6 journeymen shall keep senior journeymen (age 55 or older) at a specified ratio of total employees as described in the Collective Agreement.

WORKING CONDITIONS

VACATION PAY: Vacation & Statutory holiday pay equal to 10% of the hourly wage is paid to the member on a weekly basis.

SHIFT WORK: Premiums are paid for all shift work and irregular hours worked.

MEAL ALLOWANCE: Meal allowances will be provided by the employer when working in excess of 2 hours beyond regular quitting time.

SHOW UP PAY: Members showing up for work on a regular day and no work is available, then 3 hours show up pay must be paid by the employer.

WORK BREAK: Work breaks (10 min. each) shall be provided with pay both morning and afternoon.

STEWARD PROTECTION: Each Steward named by the union shall have protection from reprisal and have first right of refusal on all overtime worked as well as being the last employee laid-off on the job or in the shop that the Steward is named to.

TOOL INSURANCE: All tools required as per the tool list are insured against loss in the shop or on the job-site providing there is a valid police report filed. One claim allowed in 12 month period, up to $600.00 per occurrence, minus deductible

SAFETY EQUIPMENT: The employer shall provide all specialized safety equipment required to perform specialized tasks safely. Eg: safety harnesses, (and other items as may be required.
