The Following are some hi-lights from the Industrial/Commercial/Institutional Provincial Collective Agreement

WAGES AND BENEFITS (licensed Roofers and registered Apprentices)

WAGES:  Journeymen Roofers (CofQ*) can earn an hourly wage of $26.95 plus benefits for a total package of $38.30. Apprentice Roofers (MTCU*) earn from $24.56 to $31.44 per hour total package based on hours of experience. Foremen are paid an additional hourly premium of $4.25 above that of a Journeyman roofer.

PENSION PLAN: Contributions of $5.21 per hour made on your behalf. (Contributions on behalf of Apprentices at the appropriate percentage of Journeyman's wage). Effective May 1, 2009 the Pension plan contribution increases by $0.35 per hour to a total contribution of $5.56 per hour

HOURS OF WORK: The work week shall consist of 44 hours.

OVERTIME: All overtime shall be at time and one half for all time worked after 44 hours. Double time for Sundays, Double Time for Statutory  Holidays:New Years Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, August Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day

TRAVEL & BOARD: Members will be paid at their normal hourly rate for time spent traveling to jobs located outside of the designated free zone, as well you will be paid from $15.30 up to a daily limit of $68.98 per day as well as per- Kilometre allaowance (see Additional Info page)

SENIOR JOURNEYMEN: Employers with 6 or more journeymen must keep a senior journeyman (age 55 or older) and maintain a specified ratio.

Training: A jointly funded Training Trust fund is in place to ensure that our roofers and apprentice roofers are trained in the up to date methods of roofing in the industry as well as re-training and refresher courses.

WORKING CONDITIONS

VACATION PAY: Vacation & Statutory holiday pay equal to 10% of the hourly wage is paid to the member every 3 months or on termination.

PITCH CLAUSE: Members will be paid a $4.00 per hour premium for all pitch work.

MEAL ALLOWANCE: Meal allowances will be provided by the employer when working in excess of 2 hours beyond regular quitting time.

SHOW UP PAY: Members showing up for work on a regular day and no work is available, then 2 hours show up pay must be paid by the employer.

WORK BREAK: Work breaks (10 min. each) shall be provided with pay both morning and afternoon.

HEALTH & SAFETY REPS.: Health & Safety Reps. Appointed by the union will not be discriminated against by the employer. H & S Reps will have first right of refusal for all overtime work.

ROOFING CREW RATIOS: The employer must maintain a specified crew ratio based on job size. Such as Foremen, Journeymen roofers, Material Handlers and Apprentice Roofers as spelled out in the collective agreement.

METHOD OF PAY: Members will be paid every Thursday if paid by cheque and a pay-stub must accompany pay.
